Bach Organ Concert ～ バッハオルガンコンサート
Posted by scottshaw on March 22, 2006
Yesterday I attended a very fine organ concert at St. Paul's Anglican Church, Tokyo. It was in commemoration of J. S. Bach's 321st birthday (March 21st). It also celebrated the church's 130th anniversary. The performer was Wolfgang Zerer, professor at the Hamburg National University of Music. His performance was remarkable for beauty of touch and articulation (not to mention absolute accuracy). Rather than fight with the sometimes finicky winding of the Tsuji organ at the church, Prof. Zerer allowed the organ to sing into the room by choosing his repertoire and performance technique to match the instrument. This was a concert well worth the time and effort made to attend.
